The Story of Almora Medical College
The Government of Uttarakhand is dedicated to providing advanced medical facilities to the residents of the state's remote hill regions. Following the successful establishment of state medical institutions in Haldwani (Nainital), Srinagar (Garhwal), and Dehradun over the past decade, the state government has taken another significant step by deciding to establish the "Soban Singh Jeena Government Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Almora" in the district of Almora, located in the Kumaon hills. This institute is part of the Government of India's sponsorship scheme. Currently, the college has a capacity for 100 MBBS admissions annually.

- Medical College Campus: The campus spans 25 acres (9.90 hectares) of land known as Moth-free Estate, Pandey Khola, near Vikas Bhawan, Almora. The approach to the Medical College is via State Highway-37 to Vikas Bhawan.
- Teaching Hospital: The associated teaching hospital is the existing 200-bed "Govardhan Tiwari Government Base Hospital Almora," which is being upgraded to a 500-bed capacity.
